IMPORTANT WEBSITE NEWS!!!!!!
New Website for 2011/12 Season
Just to let you know that from the Summer, the Mini & junior section website will not be found at www.theyoungfirm.co.uk anymore as it will be migrating to the main Mountain Ash RCF website.
There are sections in the site for Mini and Junior rugby and this is where all next year's fixtures will be found, along with the option to use the facilities for squads, results, scorers etc.
it will enhance the presence of Mountain Ash Junior Rugby in listings as well as push Mountain Ash RFC up the web rankings but we will all need to contribute to the site.
I think if each team can nominate one webmaster who can update their own scores, results, fixtures as and when needed, photos etc, this will make life easier for each team.
The Mountain Ash RFC website can be found at http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/mountainash/ so have a look and decide who you want to represent your team in the coming seasons.
Each individual will need to register themselves on the site and then be approved by the main webmaster (Chris Roberts) to become a webmaster themselves.
Also, could all coaches, parents, players etc register themselves on the site as well which will make team selection etc much easier in the future.
i will keep you posted on any future developments...
Cheers
Wayne

APOLOGIES
I would just like to apologise for not updating the results pages more regularly this season, as there have been a number of complaints that this FREE service that I provide isn't up to scratch.
Due to the weather and sporadic games over the last few months, there hasn't really been too much point but I shall now endeavour to put this right and continue to update you as soon as results come in, just like Jeff Stelling off of Soccer Saturday!

Scores & Scorers

Would all coaches please send in as many scores and scorers as possible please. You can send them to me directly by clicking here. The kids will love to see their names and achievements on the website so please make as much effort as possible to send in the info... Thanks

Cons

Subscriptions this year will be £35 as previous seasons... The first installment of £20 is due by 26th September with the balance being paid by the end of January 2011. See your coaches if there are any problems paying... Thanks.

Good Luck To All Age Groups For The Forthcoming Season

Great End To The Year For Under 15's

Congratulations go to The Under 15's on completing an exceptional season. They finished the season by beating local rivals Aberdare in the Heart of Wales Cup Final in Abercwmboi 31 points to 7. And as a bonus for some of the boys, representing the Cynon Valley Schools in the Amdhal Bowl, played in St Helens Swansea, they triumphed against Powys Schools. Conratulations to all the boys involved, the club are very proud of you all...

Player Of The Year Award

A big well done to Chloe Mulligan on receiving the Mountain Ash Comprehensive School Player Of The Year Award who beat off loads of rivals to claim the award.
Following on from her excellent work with Mount Under 12's where she has been a cornerstone of the pack since she was knee high to a grasshopper, she has also demonstrated the same determination and drive in her school team and richly deserves her award.
Well done from all of the Young Firm.

Cloe Mulligan in her younger days. "She's great" said biased coach and father Mark Mulligan

Junior Blue

Congratulations to Owen Orford off of the Under 8's on being selected as mascot for the Cardiff Blues in their game against Harlequins. He met the team and had a tour of the stadium before being wheeled out in front of 11,127 fans. Owen then had his picture taken with Gethin Jenkins and some other bloke. A future Blue in the making???

Gallery Updated

There are a few new galleries uploaded, have a look to see if you or anyone you know are there. Still got a few to go up as well and also, still waiting for pics of the older teams (and results) so if you can get some in that would be great...

Calling New Players

If you or anyone you know would like to play rugby for our teams then turn up for training on the appropriate nights. Under 12 and Under 13 players are desperately needed for this season...

Cynon Valley News 2009/10 Season

Congratulations to Cameron Davies, Aaron Evans, Morgan James, Iwan Pearson, Lewys Phibben & Daniel Phillips for getting into the Cynon Valley Schools Under 11 side. Although the start of the season will be delayed for Iwan & Lewys who both suffered ligament damage on the same day of the first training session, I'm sure that all six boys will represent their respective schools and Mountain Ash RCF with plenty of courage and skill, and be proud ambassadors for both school and club in the coming months. Well Done Boys!!

New Look Website for 2009/10 Season

There's a new look to the Young Firm website this season which (hopefully) makes it quicker and easier to use. The results have been separated into teams to make it easier to find your age group (and because of some over exuberant journalism!!), but you'll be able to find last seasons fixtures and results in the ARCHIVE section... If there are any parents or coaches who will write up the matches or at least send in the scores then please do so as it means a lot to the players.

There's also a change to the gallery as the sheer number of pics last year meant that the server filled up really quicky and there was no room for any more so this season we have adopted a slide show style gallery. The images won't be downloadable but if you want copies of any of the images then take down the number of the image and which gallery it is in and I will email it to you. Just click here and send me a message.

You can also find us on Facebook - there's a link at the bottom of each page so make sure you join our group where there'll be new pics, news etc.

That's it for now - keep sending in pics, stories, results, awards, representative achievements etc.... the more you send the better the site will be.

Chairman's Address

Welcome to the website of Mountain Ash RFC Junior Section (The Young Firm). We hope you find it useful. We will use the site to post newsletters, results, fixtures, achievements and anything else you might find helpful.

The section is now in it's 6th season since officially reforming at the beginning of the 2003/04 season. From very humble beginnings when we had about 9 or 10 children spread over 2 or 3 age groups, we now have over 170 children representing Mountain Ash at age groups 7's, 8's, 9's, 10's, 11's, 12's, 13's, 14's and 16's. We have developed over the last 5 years to become one of the strongest sections within the 'Heart of Wales' District, although this is not to say we are going to rest on our laurels. We are always on the lookout for new players to boost our playing strength, so if anyone knows of any child that wants to take up the game of rugby, or if you know of any child that wants a change of club, please contact one of the coaches or committee or simply come along to training.

To be a success you need to have strong foundations and a forward looking main committee. I am pleased to say that here at MARFC we have both. We have received fantastic support from the club's main committee and the Supporters Club over the last 5 years both financially and physically and I'm sure this support and guidance will continue. I would like to place on record my personal thanks to all the help we as a section have received.

To continue our development, and ensure the section carries on the success we have enjoyed over the last 5 years, requires a dedicated team of coaches, referees, committee and volunteers are pulling in the same direction. I am grateful that at Mountain Ash we have such people and I would personally like to thank them for all their help over the last 5 years and hopefully for many years to come.

It would be remiss of me not to mention perhaps the two most important groups of people, those are the parents and of course the children. To the parents please please continue to show your support by bringing the children to training and matches and by attending all organised functions. To the children, I would say on behalf of all the coaches please continue to show your dedication, commitment and enthusiasm as you have over the last 5 years and you can guarantee that season 2009/10 will be as successful, if not better, than the previous 5 seasons

Good luck to all Mountain Ash RCF teams for the forthcoming season.

Regards

Anthony Hughes
Chairman
MARFC Junior Section

We play weekly matches against other rugby clubs throughout Wales and participate in the Blues Cup at all age groups. Mountain Ash Rugby Football Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.
